The heart drives life in all other parts of the body, hence considered the most important organs of all. A healthy heart is therefore vital for a person’s well-being, which is why you need to be careful with it. With more men dying out of heart diseases than any other illnesses, it’s important that one works hard to ensure his heart is in top condition. Some of the factors that lead to heart conditions include poor lifestyles, obesity, poor nutrition, lack of body exercise, depression, and cigarette smoking among others. You can however protect your heart by:

1.    Eating healthy:  Proper nutrition is the key to a healthy heart.  Choosing the right, and nutritive, foods for your diet plan is therefore essential for your health and heart.  Although processed and fast foods may be enticing, it would be advisable to go for healthy options such as whole foods, cereals, brown bread, brown rice, lean meat, chia seeds, carrots, and fresh vegetables. You also need to ensure each meal is balanced for better health. Including lean meat, high-quality carbohydrates, essential oils, and veggies provide your body with all the essential nutrients. In addition to this, whole foods help reduce LDL levels in the body hence reducing heart attack or hypertension risks.

2.    Eat more fruits and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables are healthy sources of vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, and essential oils. Vitamins are some of the most powerful antioxidants that help get rid of toxins from body cells (heart tissue) while essential oils are vital for tissue health. Including more fruits and vegetables in your diet plan also helps improve HDL levels in the body.

3.    Maintain the recommended BMI:  If you are obese or overweight, you could be overworking your heart. Trying to shed down some weight by exercising and reducing overdependence on fast foods can be helpful to your heart. Losing weight also reduces pressure on heart muscles and blood vessels hence a healthier heart.

4.    Regular body exercise: Just because you have a physically fit body doesn’t mean your heart is healthy. You should try to get at least 30 minutes’ worth of body exercise every day to help promote heart health. Since we cannot all fit in a gym, you could try swimming or brisk walking every day. Brisk walking comes in handy especially for seniors who may not be capable of lifting weights or even jog in the morning.

5.    Drink plenty of water: Pure water is also recommended for your overall health. Although more than 70% of your body is made of water, you still need to drink at least eight glasses of water daily to maintain perfect body ph. Water also helps wash away toxins and toxic waste from body cells thus facilitating improved health and performance.

Although regular body exercise and proper nutrition are required for a healthy heart, you still need to grasp at least 8 hours of sleep/rest. Our body cells and tissues regenerate while we sleep, which is one of the reasons you should get plenty of rest. You may also want to reduce alcohol intake or quit cigarette smoking for better health.
